Artist Statement
I love color and the thick texture of oil and acrylic paints. I also love the play of light and what that does to the emotional aspect of a subject. My work is a true expression of my soul. I see paintings in so many places. I love to paint florals, people in everyday situations, and the landscape of my Savannah, Georgia home. But subject choices are dynamic for me. The world has so much to offer a painter. I take advantage of that as much as possible. Often I enjoy the play between representational and abstract. Always, I am looking to express beauty.
My work has been influenced by Daniel Phill, C.W. Mundy, and Charles Sovek. I paint in a loose painterly style that allows for some of the viewers own interpretation to be part of the piece.
I want my work to resonate with the viewer in a way that lifts them up, so that each time they view the piece they feel good, and want to continue the relationship, just as I did when I chose to paint the subject. Art is emotional for the painter as well as the viewer. It can change the lives of both parties. I love being a part of that.
